Election Day 2026: I DO, I DO — Meeting in the Middle
Today, Tuesday, November 3, 2026, is Election Day in the United States. As people make decisions about the future, I want to offer an invitation that begins not with a party or a candidate, but with two words: I DO.
I am DAVED Beck, an artist, choreographer, writer, life coach, and rideshare driver. Every day, I share a little bit of road with people whose histories, beliefs, hopes, and fears may be very different from my own. Those encounters remind me that we are sharing more than a road. We are sharing a human experience.

For years, my creative work, EVOLUTION, has brought me back to the meaning of a vow. In a wedding, “I do” can be a promise to another person. In my life, it also became a promise to myself: to meet this world with love, awareness, and responsibility for my own choices.
On a day when our differences can seem especially loud, what if we each made a simple vow? To listen before labeling. To defend someone’s dignity even when we disagree. To refuse cruelty and dehumanization. To offer one act of care in the place where we actually stand.
Meeting in the middle does not mean surrendering our convictions, excusing injustice, or asking anyone to tolerate harm. We can hold boundaries, speak up, and stand against wrongdoing without giving up on one another’s humanity.
If you are eligible to vote today and have not yet done so, I encourage you to make your own informed choice. Check your local election office for the rules and polling information that apply to you. And whether you vote today or not, there is another decision each of us can make: how we will treat the next person we encounter.
In my personal play with words, intimacy becomes “into me, I see.” It invites me to look honestly within, and then to see beyond the label I first place on someone else. We do not need to believe the same things to choose compassion.
So here is my call to action for November 3 and every day after: make a vow in your own words. Share it if you wish. Then put it into practice through one real action, however small. Let us meet in the middle where dignity, kindness, courage, and accountability can live together.
Have you made your vow?
I vowed to love you. I do. I do.
